Learn About St. Paul's Lutheran
Church & School
|
Our Church and School are located
just 4 miles north of Arlington Nebraska. With a rural setting we
provide
preschool through 8th grades with a
Christian education. |
History St.
Paul's Lutheran Church dates back to the first service being
held January 4, 1869. There was no Church building at that time so the first service was held in the public school.
Between 1876 - 1877 the first Parsonage and Church was
built, and the first Pastor, John Hilgendorf was installed.
During this time the first school was set up in the Parsonage
attic. In 1881 the first school house was built and
three years later in,1884 the first teacher, Ernest Striet was
installed. 1885 the first teacherage was built. In 1893
the first Pipe Organ was installed. This is just a brief
list of the first.
The present day Church was built in 1890, the
present day school built in 1950, dedicated in 1951 and in 1974 a
corridor and classroom were added. 1960 was a busy year, the
present day congregation name was changed to
St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Arlington, Nebraska. The last German
services were dropped and there was an open house at the present
day teacherage. In the Lord's service is our present
day
Pastor, Rick Kanoy.
The St. Paul's Lutheran Church has had changes in the last 134
years but one thing has always remained on course, the spreading of the word
of the Lord. From the first recorded 150 communicated members to present day
of over 535 communicated members St. Paul's continues to grow and spread The
Word. At present St. Paul's sponsors the World
Missionaries Claude and Rhoda Houge. Providing the needs to continue their
on-going mission of teaching Lords Message in Guiana, Africa. Locally, the
newly trained Stephen Ministries are providing requested counsel to
individuals who are in need of confidential guidance in personal affairs.
St. Paul's Christian Education continues to provide high standards
of teaching with the additions of faith development education. Teachers are
continuing to improve classroom learning by attending the latest
workshops and conferences. At present day, the
teacherage has been transformed into HIS KIDS an early childhood
learning center for pre-school and kindergartners.
"Train a
child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from
it" Proverbs 22:6 has been the corner stone of St. Paul's
Christian Education.
